Wieder mal eine dieser Compilations. Mit Musik aus den Neunzigern. Vom Großkonzern für musikalische Unterhaltung. Diesmal aus Australien. Und in echt aus dem Jahre 1998, als die Zahl 2000 noch was magisches und Layouts mit abgerundeten Ecken Hochkonjunktur hatten. Und der Begriff Indie bereits von seiner ökonomischen und musikalischen Bedeutung losgelöst als bloße Worthülse verwendet wurde. Indie-Bands (oder gar -Labels) sind nämlich keine vertreten, Indie-Musik im Grunde auch nicht.

Wobei das jetzt nicht heißt, dass das alles ausnahmslos unterste Schublade schlecht ist. Sind ein paar ganz nette Sachen dabei. Aber der Großteil ist schon dusseliger bis dämlicher Schrott.

Der Anteil an australischen Musikern ist dabei aber erfreulich hoch: nach meiner Zählung sind die Amis zwar mit einer Band mehr vertreten, die Briten und Kanadier (und Neuseeländer) hingegen weit abgeschlagen.
